He had to marry her
Everyone in London agrees the Byrons are just as "mad, bad, and dangerous to know" as their poetic non-relation. But Lord Jack Byron is facing a predicament that is scandalous...even for him!Â
Marry a young woman because he lost a bet? Unreformed rake Lord Jack Byron would do anything to get out of it. But the rich merchant who holds his debt insists Jack lead his on-the-shelf daughter to the altar...and make her believe it's a love match. With no options, Jack agrees, thinking he'll be shackled to a closed-in spinster.Â
But Grace Danvers is no milk-and-water miss. When he first encounters her in a London bookstore, Jack is struck by her tempting sensuality and soon becomes determined to bed - and wed - her (in that order!). Yet though he plans to seduce her with his touch, he never dreams he'll also want to win her with his love.

"The nerd gets her playboy!
What a wonderful adventure this was, so filled with emotion. The love scenes were so wonderful and passionate and sweet. Grace was a perfect character, didn't do anything stupid, and never denied her feelings outright. Jack was also a great hero. He didn't do anything stupid or mean or brutal. They were truly a greatly matched pair!"

- I read this book years ago, before doing reviews. Here the H agrees to marry the h because he is in serious debt to her father. Her father doesn't want the h to know that it's an arranged marriage so the H has to win her over first. I loved the first part of the book where the main characters begin to know each other and the h falls in love with the H. I will just say that I don't like reading about my H's having sex with someone else once they've met the h. I don't know it just seems tacky. Anyway, all is going well until just before the wedding and the H finds out about the deception. It's not a bad story but I did feel sorry for the H.
- The plot is one that has been used by others. Almost from the beginning the reader can pretty accurately deduce how the story will play out. Unfortunately, no surprises there.
At first, I liked the heroine but later I just got tired of the same incessant internal dialogue and assumptions going on in her head.
I liked the hero quite a bit, particularly because of the growth of his character by the end.
Overall, the story felt rather contrived and I probably will never read this book again. - Beautiful story. I would've given it 5 stars but the heroine seemed a bit too unforgiving for too long for my tastes. Other than that, it was an enjoyable read.
- The nerd gets her playboy!
They were truly a greatly matched pair! - THIS WONDERFUL NOVEL WAS YUMMY, WITH HUMOR, PASSIONATE, EXCELLENT LOVE SCENES FROM BOTH CHARACTERS. LORD JACK NEEDED TO MARRIED FOR MONEY TO PAY OFF GAMBLING DEBTS, BUT THE PLAN BETWEEN HIM AND GRACE'S RICH FATHER WAS ON THEM. GRACE WASN'T ONLY A RICH HEIRESS, BUT ALSO A REVENGE SEEKING BRIDE ON HER HANDSOME HUSBAND, WHO TO HIS DISPOSAL FELLED HEELS AND HEADS IN LOVE WITH HER!!!
- I have read this book probably six times over the years, as I have for all the other books in the Byron series. Wonderful character development And great writing in general. Only wish there were even more Byron’s to write about!
- I have really enjoyed all of Tracy Ann Warren's books, but I have to say this was the most unexciting one. The relationship starts friendly turning romantic. Not far into the book it is revealed that Lord Jack (which gets really annoying as the book progresses) is not who Grace believes him to be, but rather he is marrying her to clear a gambling debt. The details over a year are so vague it makes the characters seem so one dimensional. It would be like me telling you in one year "I went on a date, ate at a Chinese restaurant, and then went to the dermatologist"...really? all that in one entire year? I think that Warren is a much stronger writer, and if you are interested in seeing her real abilities look at the "Wedding Trap" series. Hopefully her next work is better!
- Really good book, I enjoyed it.
